Both are understandable, yes—it makes sense. The main point is I've noticed them before but never had a reason to look deeper. My curiosity kicked in because I have a TPM on a 2011 Foxconn motherboard in a budget secondary build I'm putting together.

Review the mainboard manual for any TPM connector details. If present, identify which TPM modules are supported. A TPM 2.0 setup brings you one step nearer to installing Windows 11. A 2011 model likely lacks sufficient TPM features in its BIOS.

It's a security feature. You wouldn't use this at home, but at an office or some sort of professional environment, where you're encrypting or digitally signing data. Computers aren't only for gaming.
