I need a high-quality .mp3 or .flac file player that works locally without any online features. I’m not looking for full-featured software, just something simple and free. Comparing VLC and Windows Media Player is helpful—I’m currently using Windows Media Player but want to know if it’s the best option. I prefer free solutions with preserved sound quality.

Foobar offers flexibility with various file formats and a smoother experience compared to iTunes. The WASAPI plugin enhances performance, and lossless files are highly recommended.

I use iTunes, but that’s because I own an iPod and it’s where I purchase my music.

It functions smoothly across all formats and offers full customization. It supports any music type I've tested, loads instantly, and starts playback right away. It's a bit awkward initially since you need to configure the layout, but I'll share the TekSyndicate setup video in the threads for reference.

After tailoring it to your preferences, Foobar 2000 becomes quite impressive. You might need to refer to a tutorial (like Tek Syndicate's I think), but it’s definitely worth the effort.

Windows media player works well, but for alternative options, VLC is a good choice.
