Your current 12900KS remains suitable for most 3D modeling and Blender tasks. I’d aim to use it first before upgrading. Beginners won’t require excessive CPU power.

I've considered staying with Intel, but the LGA1700 seems limited to the 14900k. Even then, the reviews I've found suggest it performs similarly to the 13900k. Meanwhile, AMD has pledged support for the AM5 platform for some time, and given what they've done with AM4, I'm leaning toward them. So, if I need an upgrade, I think AMD's AM5 is a better choice now.

There’s no meaningful improvement in Blender or 3D modeling that would justify the investment. Keep using what you already have; consider waiting a few more years before reassessing.

I wouldn't purchase AM5 right now given these conditions. Even if they introduce CPUs for AM5 later, it doesn't guarantee compatibility with your current X670e fully equipped. I'd prefer the 12900k and consider Intel 15th or Ryzen 8000 options instead. Unless you're facing a particular limitation, the 12900k remains a powerful choice for gaming and productivity in 2024.
