A single specific key will not repeat automatically while pressed.
I have a very particular problem that I'm struggling to understand. I've already adjusted the keyboard speed and repeat rate, turned off Sticky Keys and Filter Keys, and even toggled them on and off. The issue remains: every key functions normally except for one. When I hold down 'Q', it spams repeats like 'qqqqqqqqqq', but for the 'S' key it only types once and then stops. I've also tried using a different keyboard, but it didn't fix the problem. Please help.
Try a clean boot and observe if it alters the issue—follow the guidelines carefully. Ensure no Microsoft services are disabled or Windows won’t load properly.
A clean boot may reveal a non-Microsoft program as the cause.
If it resolves the problem, restart the stopped applications one by one to pinpoint the culprit.
Have you considered testing in safe mode?
Does the keyboard require additional software?
I think you might have an extra keyboard driver for an app that’s stopping the S key from repeating. Try opening the registry editor and going to the path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}. Check the UpperFilters section—if you see a driver named before kdbclass, it’s likely the issue. You could remove that temporary driver to test, but other apps might not work correctly afterward.
