I’m uncertain where to seek assistance regarding this problem.

Let me be direct: my partner enjoys playing Skyrim on a single computer while I am engaged in Rocket League on another device. Whenever she progresses, completes areas, or spends extended periods within the game, my gameplay experiences sudden and significant lag fluctuations. This consistently occurs in a predictable pattern – I’ve attempted countless solutions to resolve this issue, yet it persists.

I've consulted online communities dedicated to Skyrim and Rocket League on Reddit, Steam forums for both titles, and numerous internet searches, all without finding a resolution. This is profoundly perplexing to me, and I’m completely frustrated.

Can she access online multiplayer or cooperative modes? Should you restrict firewall settings on her computer to prevent Skyrim from connecting if she only wants to play alone?

I’m not particularly knowledgeable about firewall settings and related topics. I suspect it might involve allowing outgoing connections. Any guidance would be helpful. However, I’d like to ensure she can still earn achievements—could this potentially interfere with that?

I discovered another method, though I haven't personally tested its absolute reliability. You could also disable Steam’s internet connection while she is active and have her log in through “Steam” when you are away from your computer, disconnecting her from the internet. Generally, it’s possible to gain achievements while playing offline for a majority of Steam games. A significant drawback is that when you reconnect to Steam online, all previously earned offline achievements will be “unlocked” simultaneously, leading to identical timestamps indicating periods of offline play.
