Upgrading from Windows 8 or 8.1 to Windows 10 isn't necessary. But switching from Windows 7 to Windows 10 could result in the loss of all your files, data, and documents.

This process is identical to upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1. I also upgraded my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 manually, and I can still use Google Chrome after the installation completes.
