I checked the site and saw a big impact on my CPU. Is this a common issue or a problem with my new Ryzen setup?

There might be a crypto mining scheme.

Doubtful, didn't do much for the GPU and the game is not even web based, there's an actual Windows client (the website eventually loaded).

Found it by searching Google. Load is around 7 to 9 percent on a Ryzen 3 3100. Could be background mining or a plugin problem?

If you access it from another link without visiting the main page, there are no problems—only the main page does that (refer to the screenshot link). I also opened it using a Chrome guest tab, which makes me think it's not related to a plugin. EDIT: After installing Firefox and testing the site, it functioned properly. I cleared Chrome and reconfigured from scratch; everything is working now, though I’m unsure why since I performed a clean Windows install in August for Windows 10 2004.
