Back then, a solid board was top-notch. The old firmware feels like OBD1 in cars—simple and direct. UEFI is more advanced, similar to OBD2, but with more complexity. Hardware and software have improved, though the software part might not be as polished.
They frequently send error messages and shut down due to malfunctioning sensors.
It was a bit unusual when I had my 2017 Civic Si twice; it would display a whole set of error codes on the dashboard and shut down completely. I had to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery for it to disappear. It seems this issue happens occasionally—maybe due to poor fuel quality or something unrelated. I no longer have turbochargers installed, as both of my previous models had problems with them.
haha, that's for sure. I have a 2010 impala in the garage right now. Came back from the dealer for a diag and in worse shape. Oil pressure sensor circuit high. No MIL active, fails every key start. ABS complaint, active light. Can't get it to come on for myself. Plug in my 500$ scanner. ABS module no communication. Trying to determine bad connection at the module or my scan tool. Key off, plug in scan tool and module is read, no faults. Drove through the rain, puddles.... No active faults, system normal. Speed sensors at proper voltage and wheel speed read outs normal. I have to drive this car around until it throws a fault. Until then.... nothing stored. The dealer cleared all faults. Thanks guys. Jag offs.
We work with a local expert who shares ECM updates for similar problems. It's like a software patch—sometimes a fix is released, but no one gets informed. This happens often at Cascadia Freightliners where I repair trucks. Before diving into troubleshooting, it's important to confirm the firmware is current.
The most recent time I drove a car was a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T with extra power was enjoyable
That's why people favor the Dodge Cummins diesel trucks. Remove the EGR, add a tuner, and crank out 30 lbs of boost. I have to admit, it's really tough working on those C10 and C13 Acert twin turbo CAT engines. It's a real pain trying to make any changes. Just installing the cam is like asking the engineers to pull their hair out. I need to secure all the rockers properly. Why? Just for the reason. Lol
I own two average family vehicles from 2016 and 2012—both Acura TLX and Honda Accord LX. They no longer prioritize speed, though I still enjoy some solid four-cylinder engines. Maybe one day I’ll look for an S2k model.
