A particular game triggers the system to shut down on a PC.
Hello, everyone! I'm facing an issue where the PC suddenly shuts down with the screen going black. At first, I suspected a power supply problem since my old 550W Corsair was still working fine. I switched to Be Quiet's 650W PSU today, but the problem persists. I reviewed the event logs and noticed DCOM 10016 was active around the time of shutdown, which usually happens even when I turn off the PC by pressing the power button or unplugging the cable—so it might not be the PSU itself. Honestly, I’m unsure what to do now. All drivers are up to date, and other games don’t trigger this issue. A possible clue: setting FPS to 90 with AMD Adrenalin avoids the problem, but at full 120-130fps it does. My PC specs include a RX 7600 GPU, i5 12400F, Gigabyte B760M, and 32GB DDR4 RAM. The PSU is 650W (BN328). Thanks for any advice!
I believe game developers made a mistake by moving the game to consoles. Lock the FPS and have fun!
If it occurs instantly, everything shuts down right away instead of the screen fading first then power dropping gradually—this suggests the PSU is likely failing because the game triggers a massive surge in power use. Many suggest a minimum of 750W for the RX 7600, though with more demanding chips you might need higher. I’d personally stick to at least 850W.
Yes, it happens right away. This only occurs in this game, specifically within a certain menu. Looking at the second paragraph, there were no suggestions about 750W or even 850W. A 550W should have worked well in other games, except for this one. Although 650W exceeds the GPU's needs, I chose it just to be "safe and secured," but it didn’t make a difference.
The PSU isn’t the problem; it’s more about the GPU or drivers affecting your frame rate and overall experience.
