I've just finished setting up my PC. I downloaded some drivers and Google Chrome, but it keeps shutting down at idle without a blue screen, then resets itself. I'm not sure what's behind this problem. It began after installing the nVIDIA drivers.

verify the voltage using atx wiki; it seems all three rails are high. if so, the power supply might be the issue, as it could trigger the shutdown due to voltage spikes.

What type of cooler do you own and what are your CPU temperatures during shutdown?

The stock cooler with three fans inside the case keeps the CPU temperature near 30°C during a crash. I also experienced a crash in the BIOS, so I suspect it's not due to file corruption.

Occasionally my computer stops working, sometimes it restarts and other times it shuts down without showing anything (black screen but fans are running).

Well if you crash in BIOS then that has nothing to do with windows or any OS.
Do you have 1 or 2 sticks of RAM? If you have 2, take one out and see if you still crash. If you swap to the other one.
Still crashing, then try a different DIMM slot.
There is a chance your PSU is damaged somehow since a PSU fault can manifest into so many things.
Reflash your BIOS.
Is the motherboard broken?
Could there be a short circuit somewhere inside the case? Like one of the motherboard stand-off is placed incorrectly, etc etc.
Pick your choice and let us know what you are doing and how it goes.

If you enter BIOS, it’s unrelated to Windows or any operating system. Do you have one or two RAM sticks? If you have two, remove one and see if the crash stops. If not, swap them and try again. If the problem persists, check a different DIMM slot. There might be an issue with your power supply unit, as a faulty PSU can cause various problems. Consider flashing your BIOS. Also, could the motherboard be damaged? Are there any short circuits inside the case, such as incorrectly placed stand-off pins? Choose your option and let us know what you’re doing and how it turns out.

download hardware information, set logging on and check sensor status for power supply. In the bios, go to temperature and voltage screen, let the pc remain there. Observe the 12v rail, ensuring it stays close to or at 12v. If it drops below 12v in the bios, replace the unit.

smorizio:
