Purchased a Skytech gaming PC with the following specifications: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (8-core, 3.7 GHz base, 4.3 GHz max boost), Nvidia RTX 2060 Super, 8GB GDDR6 graphics, 16GB DDR4 memory (2x 8GB at 3000 MHz), 500GB SSD, B450M motherboard, 550W 80 Plus Bronze power supply, and 802.11ac WiFi.
I set the XMP profile in BIOS and adjusted it to DDR4 3000, but it remained at 2400 even after changes. Any suggestions or concerns?
It's operating at the intended frequency. The 3000MHz memory translates to 3000 MT/s, completing a transfer every second. Each hertz equals roughly two transfers, explaining the dual data rate in DDR technology. Manufacturers typically prefer MHz labels over MT/s for simplicity, which is why advertised speeds appear lower in software tools.
