A new GRUB inquiry
I tried to understand how EFI/grub functions. The guide suggested placing Linux’s EFI data on Windows 8’s EFI partition, which meant I didn’t need a separate Linux partition. I swapped /dev/sda8 with the root partition and installed grub on the main drive. After booting, I encountered the grub rescue screen. Secure boot was off, and the installer ran in EFI mode.
It's great to see another eOS user. I'll continue using stable. My version is quite customized. I'm hoping they allow adjusting the transparency of the wing panel and plank. I switched the plank theme to Darktheon and increased the animation speed. It's really quick now—faster than Xubuntu. Also, it uses less RAM.
My netbook had graphics built-in right away, which was great. It also recognized my battery presence... But... the power source won't charge at all—it's completely drained. Also, thanks. It took me five minutes just to adjust the GUI settings, and an hour just to pick a wallpaper. I didn’t realize I switched the buttons to the OS X layout.
