A new cooler has been put in, but now my monitors and other stuff don't work at all.
Hey everyone, here are my PC specs: My parts list is at this link. CPU: Intel Core i9-12900K running at 3.2 GHz with 16 cores. CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 which blows out to 98.17 CFM using liquid cooling. Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI for an ATX LGA1700 setup. Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 with 32 GB (two sticks of 16 GB) running at DDR5 speed, CL30. Storage: I have three drives. First is a Western Digital Black NVMe 500 GB M.2 stick. Second is a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2 drive. Third is a Seagate BarraCuda 3 TB internal hard drive. Video Card: Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 4070 with 12 GB of video memory. Case: NZXT H500i, which is an ATX mid-tower case. Power Supply: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 rated for 850 Watts and using a Gold certification, fully modular power supply. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home on 64-bit with a DVD drive attached. Case Fan: NZXT AER RGB 2 is running at 52.44 CFM with a 120 mm fan installed inside. I also have three fans total. My Monitor now is a ViewSonic XG2402 OMNI which shows up as 24 inches, running at 1920 by 1080 pixels on a 144 Hz display. This monitor is plugged in but not working. Another one of mine is the Dell S2721DGF which is also showing as 27 inches and a 2560 x 1440 screen at 165 Hz, but it has no signal coming out. My keyboard is an HP HyperX Alloy FPS Pro wired gaming keyboard and my mouse is a Logitech G502 Hero wired optical mouse. Recently I replaced the CPU cooler from a NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 to an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280 Black. Because of this change, my PC won't post up anymore. I've reseated everything and plugged in all the cables, but nothing is showing up. The fans are spinning and working, along with some LED strips I connected to the motherboard, but none of my peripherals or monitors light up. When it finally powers on, my Q-LED lights show: CPU, DRAM, VGA, and BOOT. It flashes the CPU then stays solid yellow on the DRAM. I tried different slots one by one without success. I thought this would just be a simple swap like I did before, so I don't really know what's causing it! Thanks for any help in getting this fixed up. UPDATE FIX: After doing all my hard work and trying everything else, I finally used a magnifying glass to see if those pins were bent or off. Lined them up the best way I could with the other pins around it, then I re-seated everything back onto the motherboard and it started working!
Did I tighten up my CPU cooler too much? In any case, it feels like now is the perfect time to move the CPU around and hit reset so we can try again. As usual, just look over all those wires and connections carefully, even if you think you never touched them.
I have reset the CPU twice and unplugged/replugged everything each time. I can try to take a picture of the MOBA socket for bent pins, since it is hard to tell if there are any. Would bent pins do it? Not sure how they would've gotten bent either.
I'll try putting back the NZXT AIO to see if things work again. If not, I'll use simple parts just to test it out. Because your processor has a built-in graphics card, you don't need a separate one, only one piece of RAM and one monitor. While testing with bare components, I can check the CPU socket for any damage or scratches on the circuit board.
Sure, I can show you how to build a breadboard with no cooling system.
I am showing you a photo of the MOBA chip pins and I can see the link to view it here.
Pins look fine, although, its a blurry picture. Two pins on the very bottom right look bad, I don't have an LGA 1700 socket diagram so I don't know what they do though. https://imgur.com/a/wTfHwI0 View: https://imgur.com/a/wTfHwI0 What is it that is poking out of the top left motherboard screw hole? Is it made of conductive metal? If so that could be shorting the different layers of the motherboard.
So if those pins look bad and maybe I bent them, I'd have to replace the whole thing? I'm not sure what you mean by poking out, sorry about the blurry picture since the camera won't work that close up. Right now I'm trying to put on the old cooler and test it.
