Steam consumes under 50 MBs of memory, and only a tiny fraction of its 6600k while running. Once a game starts or remains idle, CPU usage plummets to zero. In contrast, Chrome uses about 80 MBs even when not in use. How does Steam seem so bloated? I still don’t get this ongoing frustration. I didn’t like it at first either—especially when a friend convinced me to sign up nearly ten years ago. Eventually I saw its value and let my initial skepticism fade. It’s just how it is. If you don’t want it, avoid games that rely on it.
