I discovered the cause of the problem with ISLC, a software that clears the memory standby list. It seems Fortnite loads assets and shaders into that list to reuse them, but the software was clearing them each time the list hit 1024mb. I hope this helps those experiencing the same issue.

Refresh your HDD as well. I also have a GTX 1060. However, I had fps uncapped, which led to significant drops and choppy performance. I resolved it by limiting the frame rate to 165 fps (providing consistent smoothness without lag) and skipping VSync. Now everything runs steadily at 165 fps all the time, which seems to stabilize the issue in this game.

why are you using such software????
this causes your own troubles. i swear to god, you folks create 99.9999% of your own issues by using useless programs that were never meant for any purpose. there’s no point ever running a cleaner for any reason. if you messed up windows and it’s slow, just format and reinstall—don’t feel the need to touch it further. it doesn’t require any optimization.

actually, he created his own problems by using a stupid cleaner that’s never needed at all.

if you’re experiencing stutters in games, it’s probably because your memory isn’t configured properly—most often people mix RAM, which slows things down. besides, it could be a drive issue, or maybe a GPU problem. running ISLC is supposed to help with stutters, but unfortunately, it made them worse!

if your system is stuttering, try diagnosing the real cause instead of throwing useless cleaners at it.

make it a habit to leave windows closed from the start—this will greatly reduce the chances of any problems.
