A massive stutter occurs in Fortnite
Hey, I installed Fortnite on my hdd and it would stutter heavily for about a minute before becoming playable. The issue disappears when I switch it to an SSD, but I don’t have much free space, so I prefer keeping it for AAA titles like RDR2. I’ve tried several fixes so far: reinstalling GPU drivers (clean install via DDU), updating chipset drivers (removing old ones with driver store explorer), updating BIOS, moving Fortnite to another HDD, disabling MSI mode on my hdd, and completely turning off WinDefender. My system specs are 3700x, GTX 1070, 16GB DDR4 3000MHz, and a 7200rpm HDD. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Refresh your HDD as well. I also have a GTX 1060. However, I had fps uncapped, which led to significant drops and choppy performance. I resolved it by limiting the frame rate to 165 fps (providing consistent smoothness without lag) and skipping VSync. Now everything runs steadily at 165 fps all the time, which seems to stabilize the issue in this game.
yeah I'd like to, unfortunately I can't afford it rn, also I'm posting because my friend who has fortnite installed on an hdd as well doesn't experience those hiccups, he also has a lower end config (gtx 770 etc)
