A massive drop in frame rates occurs in GTA V

Hi there,
I just got the original game from the Epic Games Store, and everything seems to be working fine. The game runs smoothly with good frame rates, but after about 15 minutes it starts freezing really badly. At first, I noticed small drops, but they get bigger over time, which is really frustrating.

I’m playing at almost maximum settings, except for MSAA and advanced options, since those don’t affect the graphics results. My system is a Core 2 Quad Q6600 OCed running at 2.9 GHz, paired with a GTX 1050 that has 2 GB of VRAM and 7 GB of RAM.

It’s annoying how the issue only appears after a while, especially since I’m not getting much improvement no matter what I change.

Using high textures on a GPU that only has 2GB of VRAM can cause performance issues. Once the memory fills up, the system starts swapping data, which slows everything down.

While you're playing the game, check the task manager to identify which parts of your computer are using all the resources.

Are you keeping an eye on the consumption and heat levels? Check for any signs of overheating.

In my game, the maximum temperature hits 66°C on the GPU and 69°C on the CPU. The CPU usually runs at full capacity most of the time, while the GPU stays around 60% average.

I turn everything off, including Wi-Fi, just in case. I also set my game to high priority in the task manager. It didn’t help at all even when I did that.

Do you have an SSD or HDD? If it's an HDD, they might make a clicking or unusual noise. Make sure to check their health.
