You're looking to match your RTX 3090 with the right CPU for smooth gaming and editing. For 4K gaming and occasional 1080p work, a strong multi-core processor is key.

I’d choose the Ryzen 7 3700x or the Ryzen 5 3600.

Based on the numbers, a 3700X seems suitable. Also think about 10700K or 10900K options. But hold off on Zen 3—it's arriving soon.

There are several options available. A processor with many cores and a fast clock speed works well. Intel is a good choice, but AMD is also a solid alternative. Recent models like i5 or higher are suitable. Based on your budget, I’d suggest the Intel i9-10900k or Ryzen 9 3900XT. Check PCPartPicker.com for CPU details, then compare on UserBenchmark.com.

Looking at recent events, I’d recommend alternatives to UserBenchmark.

Absolutely correct. Zen 3 is in the mix, along with Big Navi GPUs.

4K 144 is the standard, with clock speed being crucial. A 3800X stands out for its top sustained frequency in the Ryzen 3000 series, while a 10th gen K CPU offers flexibility based on core requirements. If it's 4K 60, the choice becomes less critical. A 3090 would likely be unnecessary for that configuration.

Intel's top clock speed only causes a slight variation of 2-3 frames per second in 4K resolution.

benchmark results aren't trustworthy here; skip this site. Go for a Ryzen 3700x or better. While 4K is available, it's mostly GPU-heavy with minimal CPU performance. The 3700x offers solid stability for editing or multitasking.
