I recently chose to upgrade my setup and purchased the following parts:
• MSI motherboard b450m pro-vdh max
• AMD socket AM4 Ryzen 5 5500
• Two sets of Corsair DDR4 RAM, each 16 GB, exact model CMK32GX4M2E3200C16, confirmed compatible by pangoly with my board
• 1 TB NVMe SSD storage
I’m repurposing several older components, including my AMD Radeon 6700 GPU and Corsair 750i power supply. My existing case is also being used.
After assembling everything and connecting all cables properly (though a bit haphazardly), I encountered an EZ Debug CPU indicator light. I removed the GPU and RAM to check if those were the culprits, but the light remained. Upon rebooting, it continued flashing three long beeps, indicating memory issues. The beeps occur when no RAM sticks are present, when one is present, and persist even without RAM.
I’m uncertain what to do next—consider returning the motherboard and CPU, as I suspect a hardware problem. I doubt the memory issue is the main cause, especially since the beeping started only after flashing CMOS. I tried adjusting the CPU placement but found it difficult to get the correct orientation.
Attached photos show my current setup. My configuration is unconventional; I believe my motherboard might be too small for the GPU and the four case fans, so I added a PCI-E extender and a fan extender.
