Are you suggesting that the disk is compatible only with Windows 8.1 Full Version, while Windows 8.1 Pro supports it? This seems quite confusing, right?

It seems you had to reinstall your genuine Windows XP version because the validation servers no longer supported it. A few registry adjustments should fix the issue.
