Hello, I'm setting up this forum for a friend who has a PC with a Ryzen 7 2700, an Intel 1660 Ti, and 16 GB of RAM. He should be able to run most modern games at high settings without any issues, but in about 90% of them it still doesn't work well. For instance, Far Cry 5 usually gives him around 40-50 FPS on ultra, which is way lower than what he should get. It's not just that game either—many titles run much smoother on his system compared to mine. I have an i7 10870h and an RTX 2060 with 16 GB RAM, but it's a laptop, so performance can be limited. I'm trying to find a solution for him. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I noticed he can barely play GTA V single player, which isn't too tough. Thanks!

Did you verify his dual-channel memory setup? Which speed does it use?

Sorry for the delayed response, I’m pretty certain it’s a single channel connection. I’ll verify the speed now and update you tomorrow since it’s nighttime and he isn’t available to ask. I’m also not sure about the exact numbers, but I think the speed might be lower. If the RAM is slow, could that be limiting his performance? Thanks.

Ryzen relies a lot on memory. A single channel setup or using only two sticks in incorrect slots can cause a 10-15% drop in performance. Switching to 2133MHz RAM instead of the intended 2933MHz may also affect stability. Verify XMP settings in BIOS. Monitor temperatures with Afterburner to watch for thermal throttling. Make sure the newest drivers are installed.

Someone mentioned that GTA5 isn't overly challenging. Of course, you can play it at lower settings, but achieving smooth performance and good graphics requires effort.
