Someone checked out The Evil Within and saw it for around $12 on Greenmangaming. It seems to be a solid PC version. My overall impression is positive about the game.

It's a decent experience similar to what you enjoyed in RE4, though it wasn't fully appreciated at first. The graphics aren't top-notch, and the frame rate drops to around 40fps even when using 1080p in full screen.

I saw my favorite YouTuber do it and found it quite entertaining, so I’d say 12 dollars is a great deal.

The game has evolved significantly since then. The video captures the experience at launch. Now it offers a 30fps uncap and full-screen mode instead of letterboxing. DLC is designed to be highly enjoyable.

This game is really frustrating but in a funny way... it's terrible yet enjoyable. I never completed it because I just couldn't finish it. Not because I'm not able to, but because I didn't want to. You're going to like it or dislike it—no one can say for sure if it's good. I might have liked it more if it wasn't priced the way it was.

It hasn't been tried yet, but it seems enjoyable, though the performance is quite poor.

The demo on Steam is so impressive that I’ll never play the actual game again.

It’s a solid investment at around twelve dollars. For fans of gritty survival horror with limited resources, this style will be perfect. The settings and tactical moments are well crafted.
