After powering up, the same goes for the graphics card. You were lucky to avoid a costly mistake—it seems like. Based on where you connected the cable, you won’t need two 8-pin connectors for that CPU on that motherboard. Just use the one and get your system running smoothly.

He likely needed a different PCIe power cable for his card. He then acquired a Corsair PSU cable for his Supernova and attached it to the card. It seemed to work fine, and he didn’t experience any issues. OP, avoid using cables for other PSU models in the future.

I've spent about 20 years tinkering with and assembling PCs as a hobby. I've also faced some issues, like getting burned by faulty PSUs that came with mismatched cables. Luckily, these problems are surprisingly simple even for someone with more experience. The power supply cables definitely need a consistent standard at the end of the power source!

You asked about the purpose of the cable you used.

I need three 8-pin power supplies for my graphics card, but I only had two. The right cable was bought, and Amazon approved returning the faulty one without any issues.
