I'm a teenager who recently purchased a gaming PC and am trying to determine how much time on weekdays is ideal for enjoying games, making progress, and balancing other responsibilities. I’m mainly into RPGs, especially Skyrim, and I’m open to suggestions. Any ideas would be appreciated!

In the end, how you choose to use your time is completely up to you. For instance, my brother and I have distinct daily habits: he often leaves home with friends when not at work, spending little time on his computer, while I tend to stay indoors more and engage with digital devices—whether playing games, watching media, or communicating online. We both lead fulfilling lives, though our approaches differ. You should allocate your time according to what suits you best and brings you joy, without neglecting important areas like family or friends. Without knowing you personally, I can only advise not to spend all your time on your computer.

It largely depends on your routine. Every day will change. The approach that works best is completing tasks you dislike first, then choosing what you enjoy. Your mood shifts—some days you prefer solitude, others socializing. You can’t fix a time limit for gaming because boredom or focus varies. Some sessions are brief while others drag on. As long as you meet your responsibilities, get enough rest, and savor the moments, it strikes a good balance. One of the highlights of games is flexibility; you can play just a few minutes or hours, and still find enjoyment. If you see gaming as a necessity rather than a leisure activity, you’ll miss out on its benefits.

I typically dedicate over four hours each weekday to my PC, working on video editing, game development, or programming, with an additional hour or two for gaming in the evenings. I believe I maintain a healthy balance by getting enough sleep, exercising, and staying socially active, which allows me to spend a significant portion of my day doing so.
