It appears you consistently face high ping across various games—whether it's Overwatch, CS:GO, TF2, Payday 2, etc.—with download speeds around 18 Mbps and upload near 9 Mbps. Your internet setup seems limited, and there’s no clear fix in sight. You’re wondering if there’s a solution or if you’ll keep dealing with this issue.

Your connection speed is quite limited. With only 18Mbps, the actual performance drops due to other users, distance, time of day, and your bandwidth usage. You're getting roughly 4-7Mbps for good usage. If you want to play competitive games, it would be better to upgrade your internet. That's enough for basic browsing and watching videos in 720p or up to 1080p. Poor internet quality is always frustrating.

It seems you're facing a challenge with internet access. Since you're limited by your position, exploring alternative solutions might be necessary.

What are you referring to? I've been playing with a beginner's down for years and it's been okay.

It's really annoying because I invested over $1000 in the rig and played it for two weeks before moving to college. I need a wired connection right away.

You're experiencing low bandwidth, but you're managing with about 1.5 MBps. That's acceptable.

Unless the connection you mentioned was wireless, using a wired link will deliver much slower results (4-7Mbps or perhaps 9 at most). Many companies have a hidden system to stop complaints about slow speeds as long as their promised rates are met—typically around 1:30, 1:50 or 1:70. Unless someone’s internet drops significantly below the advertised speeds, you won’t face much trouble filing a complaint. A more reliable package would be ideal.

What I mean is that the Internet speeds you experience aren't what you see in official documents or on speed test results. Consider that increased traffic from devices and surroundings uses more data, which reduces your overall performance, even with wired connections. Six years ago, smart fridges, smart watches, and smartphones weren't always connected to the internet all the time.
