9th generation Intel or 12th Gen i7 processor options available.
I'm working with my current build and recently upgraded to the 4070 Ti Super. I'm noticing some performance issues in more demanding games. I also use the system for photo editing. I'm weighing the CPU options in the title—my goal is a quick upgrade while saving enough to eventually switch to an AMD setup, which would need a new motherboard and RAM. The i7 12th gen costs around 175 USD on Amazon, and the i9 12th gen is about 279 USD. Is the extra 100 dollars worth the added efficiency cores and a slower clock speed? Are there other Intel CPUs that might be a better fit right now?
I currently use an i7 12700k and have heard it pairs well with 4070 chipsets. It might not be perfect, but it’s a good option. I checked Amazon and saw it was listed at $174.99. Personally, I’d pick the i7 because it’s only slightly slower and costs about $100 less—especially helpful if you’re saving up for an AMD upgrade. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the suggestion, but your CPU is already faster than the GPU can handle. You could consider upgrading your MSI Ventus 3x OC LHR 3070 with higher memory clock and a slightly higher normal clock. With the fan curve you set up, the GPU never reaches 60°C during stress tests.
You won't damage the GPU with afterburner, especially if you're after longevity. You can still undervolt and overclock together to boost performance while keeping temperatures and lifespan in check.
This feature is expected to significantly enhance performance.
