Consider establishing a budget and inquire about the remaining items. Ideally, you’d want a 9800x3d or 7800x3d, though a 9900x is still acceptable.

The question of how much to spend on a Threadripper PC varies a lot depending on personal needs. While some are eager to invest heavily in powerful systems like the 9900X, others might find the 9800X3D more suitable for lighter productivity tasks with occasional gaming.

Optimize your PC for smooth multitasking without performance issues. Your friends use a 14700K, but you prefer 9900X with 12 cores to stay within your budget.

Only eight of the 14,700K cores are high-performance units, while the remaining twelve are designed for efficiency. The 9900X remains a strong option for productivity, despite the apparent core count.
