980ti 6700k pc performance compared to PS5 gaming experience
I own a computer with those specifications. My wife really wants a PS5 because it’s straightforward. We play games on a 1080P screen at 60 frames per second, so it’s not too tough. Would the PS5 offer a smoother and better visual experience than my PC for games like Cyberpunk 2077, Plague Requiem, Jedi: Survivor Uncharted Legacy of Thieves, split-screen titles, or maybe Spider-Man titles? I’m curious about Horizon and God of War on the new console. Also wondering if console prices are a big factor and how good are the haptic feedbacks? Is it just a fun feature or something that really improves the gameplay?
The PS5 performs similarly to a high-end PC such as this one: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB DDR4 and Radeon RX 6700 10GB. It handles 1080p well, but for 4K it relies on upscaling (like AMD FSR) and often caps the frame rate at around 30 fps. Investing in a new PS5 could provide better performance by upgrading your existing PC.
The PS5 offers much better optimization and performance compared to other systems.
You’ll enjoy enhanced ray tracing and a more straightforward gaming experience via console. The PS5 offers better performance than your setup. Pricing for console games is competitive, especially in Canada where costs have remained consistent over time.
It varies by game. I considered whether to obtain copies for PS5 or PC, noting that PS5 download costs tend to be much higher. Physical copies are generally more affordable and similar to PC versions, though you’d need the premium PS5 model with an optical drive.
What sector is this? Can you give a concrete case? I'm just wondering how much worse things are elsewhere, especially if you're not based in Canada.
I'm in UK. I think the last one I looked at was Powerwash simulator, just before they added the FF7R DLC, but I don't recall the actual pricing at the time. Right now, they're nominally the same price to download, although there is a 20% sale on steam making it cheaper but who knows for how long. Picking another release this year: TLOU1 is currently showing at £70 on the PS5 store, and £50 on Steam. PS5 physical is £51 on Amazon UK. Hogwarts Legacy: PS5 download £65, PS5 physical £50, Steam £50, so closer on this one but still the difference between the versions.
The cost of console games drops a lot since you can purchase older versions.
It's completely accurate—using old games works well (provided you have a disk drive).
