Most or every driver is likely full, but I assumed you meant W10. Don’t worry about it.
Honestly, I didn’t really pay much attention. Sorry about that. The last time I installed W98 was a long time ago from the floppy drive. It was an OEM build and was pretty straightforward. I’d probably need help from some friends—maybe @Beerzerker could offer some tips.
Do you possess a 98 CD? Should I provide you with a CD-R or two along with a DVD burner that supports writing CDs? I can also supply a 98 SE image if required.
It's clear you're set, just about needing 512MB of RAM as I ordered.
i don't think the issue is with that guide. i created a usb boot drive and reached version 11.20 in the video. now i'm at the stage of removing the usb stick and entering the cd key. however, i'm getting an error message similar to the one shown above. it seems i need 512mb of ram instead of 2gb, and my 120gb ssd might be too large. some sources mentioned it could handle around 137gb. edited march 23, 2021 by thrasher_565
You're wondering about obtaining 512MB DDR2 RAM sticks and whether it's straightforward. There might be challenges depending on your region or shipping options.
I placed the order. Here is the link: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1GB-512MB-X-2-DD...4122927243
It took a while to get this done. The Win 98 system only supports up to 1024MB of RAM, and going beyond that causes the operating system to crash no matter what you try. ME behaved similarly, but you still need to install the OS from scratch if you want it to work. Without that, the limit drops to 512MB. If you ever reduce your RAM below that, the OS will adjust itself, but you’ll lose the ability to run at full capacity. I’m not certain yet, but there might be a way to tweak the settings so it can handle 1024MB without a new install, though it’s probably safest to stick with the original method.
