Hey everyone, I've been dealing with unusually high temperatures while gaming. Even when I lower the settings, games like Overwatch keep the CPU near 100°C. I know newer cards get very hot, so I bought a cooler, but because of my eagerness I checked other options. I noticed the MSI default wattage was unlocked, so I adjusted my cooler to limit power usage. Although I have an AIO cooler, I switched to one with lower wattage. I followed the remaining tips in this video to help bring down the temps: after saving and closing the BIOS, I was stuck in a BSOD loop. I tried resetting the settings but the issue still exists. I'm not very familiar with these adjustments, so any advice on fixing this would be super helpful. Thanks!

Did you remove the plastic covering at the base of your CPU cooler? It might be worth looking into.

It seems odd. Are the fans running properly? Have you taken off the label? Is the thermal paste applied correctly?

That's right, I quickly verified it after upgrading the CPU and saw just how warm it was running.

The cooler is functioning, fans are working, the sticker is off, and thermal paste has been applied properly. I’m not the only one struggling with temperature issues—there’s no clear solution yet for why the blue screen persists after trying fixes.

When the maximum is not set to 253W according to Intel specifications, you'll have to use a full custom loop for cooling.

Confirming the setup—was it using an auto CMOS or did you reset everything? If auto was selected, it’s possible you overlooked a setting. A clear CMOS reset should usually resolve the issue. If not, consider returning it for repair. The 14900K is often reported to have quality control issues, suggesting a defective component.

I needed to confirm this. Background programs can raise CPU temperatures, so it might help to disable them. As Ronothan suggested, if the CPU issue persists, consider returning it for repair.

Hey! It seems everything started running smoothly at first. I only noticed the issue when I discovered the wattage wasn't limited. I'm planning to reset the CMOS and check if that fixes it. Thanks!
