8GB of RAM suitable for gaming in 2019
This was primarily a test of grasping current capabilities rather than something practical I’d rely on. I possess several systems that perform better, but last night I revisited it and assessed its performance today. For typical distributed computing tasks, 8GB of RAM is more than sufficient, so upgrading isn’t necessary. If it were my sole machine, the situation would be different. My primary gaming rig has 16GB of RAM, and I have enough DDR4 memory for upcoming models—unless DDR5 arrives, I won’t need to purchase additional RAM.
I understand your point. From what I've seen, it seems unlikely you'd need so little memory—probably nothing too demanding, just a few frames here and there.
