my 8700k operates at 88C with 1.28v using a h100i, while my friend's h80i runs at 90C with the same voltage. Having a better cooler doesn't necessarily mean your "TIM" under the IHS is worse; it just shows you have more options. Delidded could still be beneficial depending on your needs.

Taking off or removing a processor isn't without dangers.
I'd consider this choice only if all else fails.

do the temperatures reflect gaming sessions or stress tests? at what speeds and frequencies were you operating?
what kind of motherboards are you using? have you adjusted the Multicore Enhanced or Turbo Enhanced settings in your BIOS?
