Hello,
I've been attempting to increase the overclock of my i7 8700k to improve performance. My motherboard is an AORUS Gaming 7, so I followed the instructions provided at the bottom. I began with a base speed of 5.0Ghz but found it too hot, so I gradually reduced both the CPU frequency and voltage. Recently, although the FPS counter indicates a stable frame rate, my games are becoming noticeably stuttery, almost unplayable. The issue seems consistent across tests, including the Heaven benchmark. I checked temperatures via Coretemp and they stayed below 80°C at these settings. My current overclocking configuration is:

CPU: 4.5Ghz
Vcore: Tested between 1.28-1.35 (currently 1.35)
Vcore Loadline: Turbo
Uncore Ratio: 43

My full specifications are:
- Strix 1080ti, never overclocked before
- i7 8700k @ 4.5Ghz
- HyperX Predator DDR4 RGB 16GB (2x8GB) at 2933MHz
- Corsair CX750M PSU
- AORUS Gaming 7 motherboard
- Cooler model unknown, ordered a H115i expected to arrive Tuesday; currently using a single fan AIO from Corsair

Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Also, I’m still unsure about the optimal Uncore ratio setting. Please advise.

Thanks in advance

1: Restore everything to normal speeds and test with some games or benchmarks to check for stuttering. If the issue disappears, it indicates an overclocked configuration.
2: Verify if Vsync is active in the games or through the Nvidia control panel, and disable it if necessary.
3: Confirm that the refresh rate is correctly configured on your monitor and in the Nvidia control panel.
