Your Physics rating reflects the CPU's performance during the test, while the Graphics score represents the complete output of the graphics card, as determined by Futuremark for the final evaluation. I'm not sure about the exact differences the 6-core 8700K added.

But my interest was in understanding how much extra processing power it provided compared to other options.

Hi all,
I recently purchased the 8700k and successfully reached a 5ghz using a YouTube tutorial. I haven’t experienced any crashes, but I’m curious about the temperatures I’m seeing and whether they’re within normal and safe ranges. On idle it’s around 33-43°C, on load 65-75°C, and during various games and benchmarks with Coolermaster Master Air. Would it be possible to push it even higher to 5.1 or 5.2ghz? Are there any significant performance gains, and is that worth the extra heat?

Thanks all,
PC specs
Gigabyte Z370 Gamer 5
GTX 1080 overclocked 2011ghz (not verified)
16GB DDR 3200Mhz
Intel 8700k at 5ghz (not delidded)

You’re in great shape! Consider saving your Overclock Profile from the BIOS to a USB drive for later use.

I’m also aware of your 3DMark results. My 8700K tends to get hot at 5.1GHz, but it cools down to 70-75°C when under load, dropping to 35-45°C during idle. Just a few cores might reach around 80°C briefly during gaming.
