Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the 8700k and successfully reached a 5GHz speed using a YouTube tutorial. I haven’t experienced any crashes, but I’m curious about the temperatures I’m seeing and whether they’re within normal and safe ranges. On idle it’s around 33-43°C, on load 65-75°C, across different games and benchmarks with Coolermaster Master Air. Would it be possible to push it even higher to 5.1 or 5.2GHz? Could there be any significant performance gains, and are those benefits worth the extra heat? Thanks all,

Your Physics rating reflects the CPU's performance during the test, while the Graphics score represents the complete output of the graphics card, as determined by Futuremark for the final evaluation. I'm not sure about the exact differences the 6-core 8700K added.

But my interest was in understanding how much extra processing power this 6-core processor provided compared to others.

Is there any stress testing you've conducted to check stability?

Hi Ryan, the stress test last night with firestrike and timespy went well without any issues, which is great. I haven't tried any other stress tests yet.

5.2Ghz represents a 4% rise over 5.0, which won't be noticeable in real-world performance. You might attempt 5.1 or 5.2, but don't worry if issues arise. As long as temperatures remain below 80c, you're doing well.

Hi Ryan, the stress test with firestrike and timespy went well without issues. Your Firestrike score with that 8700K and GTX1080 is what I remember.

I think it's best to keep that OC at those settings. I'm currently running mine at just over 5.2GHz and I don't really feel a difference compared to the 5.0 OC. Sure, the benchmark scores are higher, but the actual change you notice isn't there. If you're really determined to push to 5.2, you should consider upgrading the hardware. My current temps are pretty much the same as yours.

Your Physics score is impressive at 22,237, and the 6-core CPU is delivering strong results!

Wow your Physics score is 22,237, that 6 core CPU is really paying off! I’m not sure how to interpret the 3Dmark results since they’re hard to understand. May I ask what you think about them?
