Seeking some guidance once more. You're using an Asus P8H61 MX with USB 3 for a HTPC setup. The BIOS settings keep changing after unplugging the PSU, even though they should remain if the power stays connected. Initially, you tried swapping two Duracell 2032 batteries, both new, and one from a model with a working RTC. That didn't solve the problem. You replaced two capacitors near the CPU power connector, and it now boots perfectly, preserving saved presets in EEPROM. If a power outage happens, you can reload quickly. You're wondering if there are other areas to check now. Also, anyone knows how to modify the BIOS? You mentioned considering enabling AHCI instead of IDE to avoid needing a battery. That sounds possible, though you haven't touched the BIOS before. Could you adjust the minimum chassis fan power setting in BIOS to a lower percentage, like 60% instead of the default 100%, aiming for around 30%?
