Today I powered on my computer, but after logging in I see a black screen with no cursor and can't reach the task manager. Safe mode doesn't work, and I don't think I can fix it or restore anything. Reinstalling the OS isn't an option since my important files are on the drive. Help needed!

Do you have Avast software? I encountered a comparable issue on Windows 8.

No problem, I understand. It seems you haven't made any recent changes and can't reach the Task Manager. That might explain what's happening. I'm able to start in Safe Mode, but the issue still isn't clear.
