Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well so far. I'm figuring out my new setup and wondering about the number of cores—8 or 12? For gaming, 8 should suffice, but for streaming, video editing, and multitasking, I think 12 would be better. It makes sense to prioritize GPU performance over CPU when it comes to these tasks. Also, I've noticed that high clock speeds and good IPC are important, so I'd appreciate your advice on this.

Your budget plays a big role Here’s what a recent AM5 7700x or 9700X can handle with its 8 cores and 16 threads The performance boost compared to older chips is impressive.

It varies with your financial situation. If you have the means, the 9950x3D offers the top performance available today. However, if cost is a constraint... what price are you willing to pay? That will ultimately shape your decision. The choice hinges on how you define "better." CPU encoding can boost image clarity, while GPU encoding provides solid results with less strain on your system. Essentially, if budget isn't an issue and you want maximum power, go for the CPU option. But if you're using the machine infrequently or need lighter performance, opting for GPU might be smarter.

Your budget supports 8 or 12 CPU cores, similar to the 9900X, 7900X, 7700X, or 9800X3D models, as well as 8-core CPUs like the 7700X and 9800X3D.

Given that amount: For top gaming focus, go with the 9800X3D. If it's not a main concern, choose the 9900X.

I focus on multi-tasking, making gaming a key part of it.

Depends what kind of multitasking, what you described above I'd still consider fine for 8 cores. There's a performance penalty from losing the 3D cache (depending on the game) and switching to a 6x6 core config from 8x0, so I'd want to be sure that those extra cores are going to be worth it.

It's not a top or serious game, just some casual stuff, a bit like CS2 and Frotnite, not really competitive.

This model is absolutely amazing and performs better than my older 5800X3D.
