You're thinking about building a PC for streaming and gaming, aiming for a Ryzen 5800 or 5900. Considering you'll run a lot of software, play AAA games, and some MMOs, a higher core count could help with performance. It's worth weighing the benefits against power consumption and cost.

This could refer to various aspects, but in gaming a 12-core processor won't boost performance.

I intended to use OBS Studio mainly for streaming, and also plan to incorporate CAD, Adobe Premiere Pro, and SketchUp into my workflow. I was considering a 12-core setup since I anticipated heavier tasks later on, but I learned that 8 cores would suffice.

For professionals or semi-professionals, 12 cores are ideal, but for school use a 5000 series 8 core will provide strong performance without straining render tasks. It's worth investing in the 5800X to save money.

My usual refresh interval is around three years, but it can vary depending on the project.

I would honestly recommend eight cores for that kind of enhancement plan.

8 cores works well for gaming, but aim for 12 cores whenever possible.
