Hey! Your setup looks solid. With the MSI X570 supporting 12 CPU power pins and you're currently using 8, adding the remaining 4 should give you more flexibility without affecting performance. The extra pins won’t hurt and might help if you plan to boost voltage or push your CPU further. Regarding overclocking, having more power connectors could make it easier to manage heat and voltage, but be sure to follow safe guidelines. Good luck with your build!

Your 5900X works well without the additional four pins during overclocking or with PBO, delivering great performance without any stability problems. As noted before, even a 5950X wouldn’t perform this way unless you’re going for very high overclocks.

The 8-pin connector supports up to 300 watts. The 5800X reaches a peak of 142 watts (check the page for details): https://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU-2020/2734 Even after overclocking, you'll stay within roughly 200 watts. Including the 4-pin adapter can lower resistance in the wires, keeping them cooler and improving efficiency. Dividing 140 watts across four wire pairs at 12 volts gives about 2.91 amps per pair. Adding the 4-pin connector reduces current to roughly 1.95 amps per pair, cutting losses significantly.
