Hello, your question about upgrading a 7th generation motherboard is understandable. The H310m model is indeed designed for 8th and 9th generation processors, but it can still work with certain 7th generation systems if the components match. If it’s functioning, you’re likely using a compatible setup. For other 8th/9th generation boards that fit a 7th gen CPU, check the specific chipset and socket type—often the M.2 or AM4 variants are supported. Always verify compatibility with the latest motherboard specifications before purchasing. Thank you!

You aim to enhance your motherboard, but keeping the same CPU often doesn’t justify the cost. Even with a CPU upgrade, it’s usually not worth it. Modern chipsets paired with current boards offer superior performance at a lower price compared to older generations.

I’m setting up a new PC for your cousin and need alternatives to the H110 motherboard since the i7-7700 is already in use. Let me know if you’d like some updated options!

Consider purchasing the most affordable options, especially used units. Avoid models like the H310 unless they’re officially supported; those likely ran on a modified BIOS. Generally, 7th to 9th generation boards use LGA1151 and are physically compatible, but the BIOS might not recognize them.

What region do you buy from? You could sell it for roughly $60 to $80, giving you extra funds to look for a used Ryzen 5 3600 with a motherboard combo that matches its performance. Later upgrades like the 5800X3D or 5700X would be possible.
