It's a good deal when you look at the CPU and MOBO together, especially given the HEDT. I still believe in what I said before—go for it if it's reasonably priced compared to a 3900X and motherboard bundle. The only reason I hesitated was the recent price increase they've made.

I own two 2X8 sets of CL16 3200mghz Ballistix. They never had a 4x8 at MicroCenter, hehe.

It's a decent offer... for someone who'll leverage its benefits. If you're planning to use MS Office, edit some videos, and play games—most people do—it's still lacking.

Consider the constraints you mentioned when picking a target in a 3900X. You're using a 3200MHz CL16 with two 2x8 Ballistix boards, and you're unsure about 2DPC support on Ryzen.

For gaming, avoid the X299 or Threadripper. A CPU with 3700X or 3900X should work just fine.

I watch videos and make TikToks with Premiere Pro, but I haven’t used any advanced HEDT tools yet. I just got used to X99 and figured X299 could be interesting.

I didn't highlight this point, but streaming, making content with Premiere, and locating a 3900X relative to its cost are the factors influencing my choice between X299 and AM4.
