The price gap reflects the cost of your motherboard. A solid board can be around 150 dollars, which helps put the 5-15% performance boost into context. Depending on what tasks you run, that gain might not justify the huge jump in price—around 220 dollars. Why? You're likely using a top-end CPU, possibly the latest gaming chips. By then, you'd already be several years old, and upgrading constantly isn't practical. The 5800x3d has been performing well for years, so you can still enjoy great results. Yes, newer chips exist, but progress is inevitable. You could pair it with a 4090 and get excellent performance. The 7800x3d is significantly better, so focus your budget on things that really matter, like more storage or a stronger GPU.
You were really persuasive. I also enjoy video editing in DaVinchi Resolve for fun, but I don’t think it’s a strong reason to decide now. So far I’ve been using an i5-3550.
I'm not holding my breath. I just thought about whether it makes sense to grab 7800x3d now and change later if Zen6 releases something better. It might be sufficient for a while, and I won't need to rebuild everything on AM6 too soon.
