I’m considering whether AMD Ryzen 7 7700X with x670E or Intel Core i5-13600K with Z790 would be the better option. The AMD setup allows for future upgrades to Zen 5 and possibly Zen 6, but I expect gaming performance to drop noticeably if I want high frame rates on a 240Hz screen. On the other hand, the Intel line offers stronger single-core speed and might support more E-cores, though it’s limited by the fact that Raptor Lake ends with the 1700 generation—no future upgrades. For schoolwork, I’d likely need a faster CPU in a couple of years, so I’m leaning toward prioritizing immediate performance over long-term gains. If I ever need a top-tier CPU for gaming later, a 9950X with 24 cores could be a solid choice.

Intel 13th generation is the final model for LGA 1700, while AMD 7700X uses AM5 and may support future versions. However, it's not feasible to compare their performance at the moment.

Do you really trust the crystal ball’s predictions? It’s unclear if you’ll stick with single-core performance or move forward. On this topic, there’s no certainty—wait for the official announcement before deciding on your hardware path.

I'm curious about comparing a griffin to an unicorn. Which one do you think has more mythical allure?
