7700k overclocking issue
7700k overclocking issue
I adjusted my target frequency to 5ghz on the 7700k in the BIOS and everything works properly, but checking the CPU Z value shows it doesn't exceed 4.5ghz (even when under load). The "advanced" section of the BIOS also states the maximum CPU speed is 4200mhz.
Hello Jalley!
How do you check your CPU under heavy use?
Have you tried launching CPU-Z twice and using one window to watch the frequency while another runs a stress test (the second-to-last tab "Bench")?
Could you share your BIOS settings?
- BCLK
- Multiplier
- Vcore (Core Voltage)

Hello Jalley!
How do you check your CPU under load? Did you attempt opening CPU-Z twice, using one window to watch the frequency and another for a stress test (second tab "Bench")?
What are your BIOS settings?
- BCLK
- Multiplier
- Vcore (Core Voltage)

My multiplier is 50 at 3.75 or 3.8 volts (I've tried both) and I ran the stress test in CPU-Z without results. Still around 4.4ghz.
Jalley15 asked about testing CPU under load, mentioning attempts to use CPU-Z twice with separate windows for frequency monitoring and stress testing. They inquired about BIOS settings such as BCLK, multiplier, and Vcore. Memphisto responded with their multiplier value (50 at 3.75 or 3.8 volts), noted trying both settings without results, and mentioned the stress test in CPU-Z did not show changes. Memphisto also asked for the baseclock setting.
Archer27 sent a message to Jalley15 asking about testing CPU under load. They inquired if they opened CPU-Z twice, using one window for frequency monitoring and another for stress testing (second tab "Bench"). They asked about BIOS settings such as BCLK, Multiplier, and Vcore. Memphisto replied with their multiplier setting of 50 at 3.75 or 3.8 volts, mentioned trying CPU-Z stress tests without results, and noted the CPU ran at 4.4ghz. Memphisto suggested checking voltage levels, explaining it could damage the CPU, and shared that a typical range for modern i7s is 1.20-1.40v, with adjustments in centivolts and decivolts. They also asked about baseclock settings and shared their own values of 1.375 and 1.38, along with previous attempts to lower multiplier to 4.7 and voltage to 1.3, achieving under 70°C temps and constant 100% usage.
