6700k with repaste, please assist!
Build is as follows:
Asus z-170 Deluxe
i7 6700k @ 4.2ghz
Noctua NH- D15s cooler (1 fan atm)
16gb corsair 3000mhz ddr4
Gtx 980ti hybrid (x2) SLI
1300W evga supernova g2
Just put my new rig together and have been stress testing all day. I keep noticing my cores 1 and 2 are always running hotter sometimes even as much as 12C over 3 and 4. Is this normal? I used a half pea size amount of NTH1 in the middle of the cpu and screwed on the noctua...perhaps TIM is uneven due to screwing one side of cooler down first??

seems they arnt as varied as before but still a good 6-7 degree diference between 1/2 and 3/4.....
Should i repaste or is my cpu broken??
Avoid running Prime on Haswell or Skylake due to frequent overvolting and overheating issues. Consider AIDA64 or OCCT for better stability. If your BIOS auto-adjusts to manual mode, try setting it to 1.25 volts and perform stress tests. If stable, reduce the voltage slightly until instability occurs, then revert to the last known stable level plus 0.02 volts for safety. Switch back to adaptive mode and conclude. My Skylake 6700K and ROG ASUS board were overheating at 1.44V stock clocks, with cores running excessively hot. After adjusting voltage, I’m now at 1.22V in adaptive mode, and during full load, the hottest core stays below 56°C. Use AIDA64 for testing.
