Same number of pins but another type of connector. Without a BIOS upgrade, it won’t function, and inserting an i7 into the old 1151 slot isn’t guaranteed either.

It's essentially the same connector, though the wiring arrangement varies. Chipsets from the 100 series, such as your Z170 Pro gaming model, are compatible with processors up to 6000 and 7000.
