60Hz Cap for Second Monitor
60Hz Cap for Second Monitor
I have a monitor and laptop both supporting 1080p at 144Hz, but the monitor is limited to 60Hz. I’m unsure why this happens—it could be the laptop, the monitor, or the HDMI cable. The laptop runs at 144Hz, and I’ve used DisplayPort before to set it to 144Hz. Windows doesn’t show any settings above 60fps for the laptop. Any ideas?
Listed all potential problems and confirmed HDMI compatibility. Installed the newest GPU drivers, but performance remains stable. The port in question is HDMI 2.1, which supports the device. The monitor uses HDMI 2.0, suggesting the issue might be software or cable-related.
The HDMI port on that monitor only handles 60Hz. Any USB-C to displayport cable will suffice, though this is currently the most affordable option available.
