I have an Asus Strix Vega64 that's still working well. I'm stuck between two options: a 65-inch LG TV with Game Mode, or a native 4K setup on a 65-inch monitor. The Game Mode version lets me run demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 at high settings, but I'm unsure if upscaling to 4K will look good. On the other hand, playing in native 4K with a steady 30fps feels more stable and smoother. Which option gives you the best visual experience?

The difference between 4K native and upscaled is minimal, yet 60fps compared to 30fps makes a noticeable change. That’s my take.

It depends on the quality of scaling. The top look is probably 4K, but the best feel is likely around 1080p at 60fps.

For me, 1080p to 4K feels like a nice addition, whereas 60fps is almost necessary.

You need the equipment then, just give it a shot. We can't predict what you'll think will work best. It changes between games too—some look great on lower settings, while others feel too heavy.

FSR and RSR are my recommended options to try. Vega allows FSR and is available in Cyberpunk. If a game lacks support, RSR can likely assist.

I enjoy high definition but struggle with low frame rates. That's why I'd pick a 1080p at 60Hz instead.

It depends on the title. Only a few titles will actually match those performance traits, and some are more affected by frame rates than others. If I'm playing Command and Conquer 3, I'll aim for 4K at 30Hz each time (the game caps at 30 FPS internally). For a quicker shooter, I'd lower the resolution. One thing to keep in mind – FSR and DLSS seem to function well even with a bit of added latency. I think this is the best choice for most players. I'm assuming you're not focused on earning money, so the right path is to wait and upgrade to a decent RTX 40 series card.

I recall those days when 30 frames per second was acceptable. I’ve played HL1 at much slower speeds. The younger generation thinks they’re entitled. Let me get out of here.
