600Mbps connection from modem, capped at 100Mbps via Nighthawk AX4 router
Joining the discussion for assistance since the Netgear forums are full of unnecessary content. I recently switched to a 600Mbps Comcast plan and purchased a new Netgear CM1000 modem along with a Nighthawk AX4 router to fully utilize those speeds. After installation, I experience maximum wired performance at 600Mbps, but when connected to the router it drops to 100Mbps both wired and wireless. I’ve disabled QoS on the router and adjusted the Wi-Fi channels manually. If anyone has additional tips, please share them.
Check your indicator lights or configuration page for the Ethernet link speed. It seems there might be a cable issue or an auto-negotiation problem between the modem and router. I recall a similar situation where direct connection didn’t support 1Gbps, so a switch was necessary. 'Twas strange...
It turned out the cable Netgear provided with the router was the issue. Using a budget Amazon Cat6 cable has allowed me to achieve full speeds through the device.
